Documentary
Finding inspiration from his father’s struggle with Alzheimer's, Bruce realized he could help himself, and thousands of seniors with a therapy program he created called Yomenco (a combination of Dance/Music Therapy, Yoga movement and Meditation, www.yomenco.com).
He began running programs at over 60 senior facilities all over the greater NY area. What followed next was a journey he could have never predicted.
The Documentary exposes us to the larger senior care problem, by highlighting the many wonderful souls Bruce has had the fortune to work with. According to residents in all forms of eldercare, there is a consensus that the system could serve them better.
According to many experts the greatest threat to our national security is our growing elderly demographic and eldercare system that will bankrupt us. We need to own our own power and re-allocate resources to programs like Yomenco that promote prevention.
Bruce poignantly demonstrates how his philosophy and the Yomenco program can impact all individuals with improved physical, mental and spiritual health.
We need to move away from a model of eldercare that treats death as a disease to one that promotes healthy aging, quality of life and acceptance of change. We can keep people alive for extended periods of time, but we have to ask ourselves is more quantity of life acceptable without more quality of life.
With proper funding, production and distribution Dancing With Grandma can be a force for positive social change and evolution.
